The Histology/Immunohistochemistry laboratory was established in the Department of Pathology in 1968. The laboratory serves all three missions of the Health Science Center, teaching, clinical, and research. The clinical aspect of the laboratory includes Breast, Oral, Renal, Skin and Skeletal Muscle Histochemistry Pathology Services. The laboratory also performs immunoflourescence, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization and Her 2/neu FISH on hospital and diagnostic consultation referred specimens. The laboratory also includes a NACCLS approved school of Histotechnology and performs routine histology and research and development of immunohistochemistry procedures for numerous research investigators.
